About the IMPJ

Progressive Judaism, Zionism and Israel

Progressive Judaism has made dramatic ideological and physical inroads in Israel. Progressive Zionism strives to strengthen the personal, historical and spiritual relationship of all Jews to the homeland of the Jewish people in Israel.
The Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism offers a framework for Israelis who seek a liberal, spiritual community life based on Jewish heritage, and open to serious exploration of the meaning and beauty of tradition in contemporary life. The IMPJ includes 25 congregations, schools, kindergartens, cultural centers, and batei midrash from Nahariya in the north to the Kibbutzim of Yahel and Lotan in the south.
Golf Balls The IMPJ strives to integrate progressive manifestations of Jewish faith and culture in mainstream Israeli society. We hope to affect the lives of Israelis in search of prophetic and liberal Judaism at key points in their lives (Birth, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, marriage, death.).
The IMPJ institutions throughout Israel reflect Progressive Jewish values and practices in a variety of Tikkun Olam projects, prayer services, communal activities and more. IMPJ congregations hold services and ceremonies on Shabbat and festivals, conduct lifecycle events and offer a rich variety of courses and activities relating to Jewish religion, culture and heritage.
As efforts continue to achieve equal status for Progressive Judaism in Israel, the active and unwavering support of Progressive Jews worldwide, both through Reform Zionist institutions and through individual commitments, remains critical. An international network of Progressive Jews that stands behind Israel's Progressive Jewish community offers the best assurance of diverse and pluralistic Judaism in Israel.
